Sandy Ridge Farms was started by my Aunt and Uncle, John and Elizabeth Harms.  They purchased their first Polled Herefords in 1941 and were original members of the Illinois Polled Hereford Association.  I moved to the farm in 1950 and have been raising Polled Herefords ever since, taking over the herd in 1974 when John retired.  The farm consists of 600 acres with 420 acres irrigated by four pivot irrigations.  The cow herd numbers 30, all registered.  The herd sires are SRF Illini Pride by TRM CCF Pride and SHF Pounder 850 H by KFF Pounder 15D F 305.  My wife Frances and I have raised 4 children: Jeff, who lives in Rock Island, IL and Scott who lives in Chicago, IL.  We have a daughter, Linda. She and her husband Steve Miller are raising three children, Matthew, Joshua, and Stephanie.  Our grandsons are carrying on a proud tradition of showing cattle in 4-H.  Finally, there is Chris who helps maintain the herd and is building his own herd.

We welcome you to our farm!
